The Azrieli Group has acquired land at Gan Havradim Junction near Rishon LeZion for construction of its tenth mall in Israel. Globes has learned that the company paid between $25-30 million for the plot, while construction costs will amount to between $50-60 million. The Azrieli Group also plans to establish a gas station on the land it acquired.
The planned mall will be located at the eastern entrance to Rishon LeZion on the highway to Nes Ziona and Rehovot and near the Rishonim railway station. It will be adjacent to Road 431 highway from Modiin, scheduled for completion in 2009.
The new Azrieli mall will compete with Gazit Globe's 18,500 square meter Rothschild Mall in Rishon LeZion, which houses about 70 businesses. The Rishon Mall will be the Azrieli Group's tenth shopping center in Israel, and will be similar in size to some of the company's other malls such as the Ayalon Mall in Ramat Gan, Azrieli Mall Holon, and Azrieli Mall Modiin. The company also owns malls in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Beer Sheva, Hod Hasharon, Herzliya, and Or Yehuda.
