Global navigation software dispute hits Israel's Mio

Israeli-Hungarian GPS navigation solutions developer NavNGo has suspended its commercial relations with Mio importer Ronlight Trade.

Israeli-Hungarian GPS navigation solutions developer NavNGo Ktd., which produces iGo8 navigation software has suspended its commercial relations with Ronlight Trade (1997) Ltd. the Israeli importer of Mio. In March 2008, NavNGo severed its ties with Mio producer MiTAC Technology Corporation (TEAC: 2315) of Taiwan, which owns Mio International Ltd.

NavNGo has increased a €21.5 million filed lawsuit with a Hungarian court against MiTAC to €50 million. NavNGo claims that it severed ties with MiTAC because it disclosed details of the contract between the companies. NavNGo also claims prolonged breaches of intellectual property rights.

Ronlight is now importing GPS devices with software of other manufactures. Mio is now marketing the MioMap 2008 GPS navigator. Ronlight said that NavNGo's claims lacked any basis.
