Stent developer InspireMD Ltd. reports success in the trial for its MGuard coronary stent. The trial included 41 patients at two medical centers in Germany. The stent has a unique embolic protection device made from an ultra-thin polymer mesh protective sleeve, and is aimed at reducing common side effects of stent use.
Last year, InspireMD obtained EU CE Mark certification for the MGuard stent and has begun marketing the device in Europe, South America, and Asia. The company is currently conducting a trial with 70 patients in Poland and Brazil. Preliminary results are the same as in the German trial.
