Web search co Joongel raises funds - for Modular Patterns

"Tech Crunch": Famed investor Dr. Yossi Vardi gave Joongel's entrepreneurs $100,000.

Technology blog "Tech Crunch" reports that the founders of Israeli web search company Joongel have raised $100,000 from serial entrepreneur and investor Dr. Yossi Vardi.

"Tech Crunch" said that Vardi pledged the investment when he met Joongel's founders, Dror Ceder and Daniel Tal, at the Tech Crunch 50 2008 conference at San Francisco, although it added that the investment "is actually earmarked for a new company called Modular Patterns, Ltd. and is intended for the development of a new product as opposed to furthering the Joongel service/product the company showcased at TC50."

"The founders are keeping tight-lipped about the nature of the new product and were only willing to share that it 'relates to web service collaboration'. They will continue maintaining the business around Joongel," "Tech Crunch" added.

Joongel, which was founded by Ceder and Tal in 2003, has developed a web application that surfers can use to search for web sites in specific categories such as video, shopping, or health.
