NICE gets multi-million dollar Miami Police order

The Miami-Dade Police Department will deploy NICE Inform and other solutions.

NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) today won a multi-million dollar contract from the Miami-Dade Police Department for the company's NICE Inform and other products for the management of emergency communications.

The solutions will be installed at four Miami-Dade County emergency communication sites, including a new state-of-the-art communications center due to open in 2009.

NICE said that the Miami-Dade Police Department's Communications Bureau handles more than two million calls annually. The police department serves both the City of Miami and unincorporated areas of the county, including law enforcement responsibility of the city's international airport. Those areas already use NICE video surveillance technology.

NICE security division Americas president Chris Wooten said, “The Miami-Dade Police Department has a reputation for being ahead of the curve. NICE is pleased to supplement its relationship with the Miami-Dade Police Department through the deployment of NICE Inform, our latest multimedia incident information management technology."

NICE Inform is already used by the New York City Police Department. New York City signed a $9 million deal with NICE about a year ago.

The Miami-Dade Police Department is the largest police department in the Southeastern United States, with approximately 5,000 employees. The Miami-Dade Police Department Communications Bureau is the busiest Public Safety Answering Point (911 Center) in the region.

NICE's share fell 8.5% on Nasdaq yesterday to $19.71. The share rose 0.5% by early afternoon on the TASE today to NIS 79.39.
