The Ramat Gan municipality authorized the solar roof.
Sources inform ''Globes'' that Arison Holdings Ltd. subsidiary Housing and Construction Holding Co. Ltd. (Shikun u'Binui) (TASE: HUCN) has obtained a building permit from the Ramat Gan municipality to build a solar energy unit on the roof of the company's headquarters in the city. This is the city's first permit for a solar energy roof. The unit will generate 20 kilowatts of electricity for the building and will save 600 tons in carbon dioxide emissions over 20 years.
Housing and Construction entered the renewable energy market this year. Arison Group chairman Ravit Barniv added a new subsidiary through Shikun u'Binui Environment Ltd., Solaria, which will design, market, install, and support photovoltaic receptors, as a growth engine.
Housing and Construction said that the solar roof on its headquarters would serve as an example for protecting the environment and as a "pioneer in Ramat Gan for the production of renewable energy".
