Software testing co uTest raises $5m

The company claims its uTester Community numbers 11,000 software professionals.

Israeli software testing company uTest Inc. has raised $5 million in its second financing round from Longworth Venture Partners, Egan Managed Capital, and the company's existing investors, Mesco Ltd. and the Massachusetts Technology Development Corp. The company said in its announcement yesterday that research analyst firm Gartner estimates that the market for software testing is $13 billion.

U-Test, which was founded in 2007 by Roy Solomon and Doron Reuveni, is a type of community and marketplace for software application testing and quality assurance, based on the software as a service model. The company says it has a community known as the uTester Community which, it claims, now numbers 11,000 software professionals in 144 countries.

U-Test recently revealed that it added 26 new customers in the third quarter, and a further 3,000 software professionals to its community.
