Microsoft leads $24m round for touch screen co N-trig

Last year, "Globes" named N-trig among Israel's most promising start-ups.

(Corrected amount) Kfar Saba-based start up N-trig has completed a $24 million fund raising round. The round was led by software giant Microsoft, with existing investors also participating.

Last year, "Globes" rated N-trig as one of Israel's most promising start-up companies. It was found in 1999 by Dr. Meir Morag, who previously co-founded e-Sim. Its CEO is Amihai Ben-David.

“With the introduction of multi-touch in Windows 7, integrated with N-trig’s DuoSense technology, our customers will have a new and natural way to interact with their PCs,” said Ian LeGrow, Group Program Manager for Windows Client at Microsoft Corp. “By simulating the way people write and touch naturally, N-trig is helping to make it easier to navigate your PC and enable a new class of Windows experiences.”

N-trig’s touch technology is currently deployed in Dell’s Latitude XT, and was recently launched on HP’s TouchSmart tx2. The company said that it also planned to announce more OEM design wins in the coming year, "representing industry standardization of the N-trig hardware in the marketplace and further breaking down the barriers between the user and their computer."

Including the current round, N-trig has raised some $73 million.

N-trig has developed DuoSense technology that combines both stylus and capacitive touch in a single device. It is one of the few Israeli technology companies that aim at the PC maker market.
