State Comptroller: Livni led in Kadima primaries fundraising

Nearly two-thirds of contributors for Shaul Mofaz's campaign came from abroad.

Kadima chairwoman and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni raised about NIS 2 million in the party primaries, which she won, states State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss in a report on the primaries, published yesterday. NIS 1.15 million of the money came from Israeli donors and NIS 831,000 came from foreign donors. Livni spent NIS 1.93 million on her primaries campaign.

Minister of Transport Shaul Mofaz, who lost to Livni by a few hundred votes, raised NIS 1.4 million. NIS 490,000 of the money came from Israeli donors and NIS 915,000, nearly two-thirds, from foreign donors, to whom he returned NIS 635,000. He also received NIS 20,000 from relatives. He spent NIS 1.7 million on his campaign.

Two other candidates in the Kadima primaries raised smaller amounts. Minister of the Interior Meir Sheetrit raised NIS 894,000, of which NIS 362,000 came from Israeli donors and NIS 531,000 from foreign donors. He spent NIS 834,000 on his campaign. Minister of Public Security Avi Dichter raised NIS 807,000, of which NIS 466,000 came from Israeli donors and NIS 341,000 from foreign donors, after he returned NIS 100,000. He spent NIS 647,000 on his campaign.

Lindenstrauss stated that Livni's donors included former Formula Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: FORTY; TASE: FORT) chairman Dan Goldstein, who donated NIS 40,000; Itamar Medical Ltd. (TASE:ITMR) chairman Giora Yaron, who donated NIS 40,000; former Delta Galil Industries Ltd. (Pink Sheet: DELTY; TASE: DELT) chairman Dov Lautman, who donated NIS 20,000; 888 Holding plc (LSE:888) controlling shareholder Aharon Shaked, who donated NIS 33,000; and businessman Benny Algem, who donated NIS 39,500.

Mofaz's donors included Ormat Industries Ltd. (TASE: ORMT) chairman Yehuda Bronicki and CEO Yehudit Bronicki, who together donated NIS 40,000.
