Cellular operator Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) today launched a new application, 8hands, that enables subscribers to link to social network sites. 8hands can be downloaded from Cellcom's website or via a handset's portal.
8hands supports Facebook, Flicker, MySpace, RSS, Twitter, and YouTube.
Cellcom says that the "Cellcom Click" hotspot has been set up on the company's website and cellular portal, which supports recreation and entertainment, chat, information, social networks, and other applications. The service is free for a one-month trial period, after which it costs NIS 5.90 per month.
Cellcom VP marketing Adi Cohen says, "Social networks are among the most popular and commonest means of communications and interaction. Twitter enables users to update online what they're doing at any given moment. We have no choice but to enable our subscribers to be have mobile, immediate, and spontaneous contact with all social networks 24/7. Cellular, as the most mobile, personal, and immediate means of media is an integral part of the social networking world. Today's launch of 8hands enables simpler, easier, and more convenient management of social networks."
