Amdocs wins contract with Angola's Movicel

The company will supply its Amdocs Compact Convergence solution.

Amdocs Ltd. (NYSE: DOX) has signed a contract with Angolan mobile provider Movicel for the Amdocs Compact Convergence solution. The company did not disclose the size of the deal, but market sources believe that it is small.

Movicel will use the Amdocs Compact Convergence solution for real-time charging and service delivery to support its growing code division multiple access (CDMA) operations, and to establish a foundation for offering 3G services. The solution will also enable Movicel to quickly introduce new, value-added, prepaid and postpaid services and promotions across any network. Amdocs added that its solution will also help Movicel strengthen its competitive position in the market, drive growth and new revenues, and offer an enhanced customer experience.

In October, Amdocs announced that its Amdocs Compact Convergence solution would be used by Ukraine cellular operator International Telecommunications Company.

Amdocs's share closed at $21.21 on Friday, giving a market cap of $4.32 billion. The company posted a GAAP-based net profit of $80.6 and a non-GAAP net profit of $104.9 million on $711.1 million for its second fiscal quarter. The company expects its 2009 fiscal year revenue to be 10-12% less compared with the 2008 fiscal year.
