Fischer, Arison meet

An informed source described the meeting as "very unpleasant".

Governor of the Bank of Israel Prof. Stanley Fischer this morning met Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) controlling shareholder Shari Arison in Tel Aviv.

The Bank of Israel's media advisor declined to comment on the meeting. Arison Holdings Ltd. spokeswoman Michal Gurwitz said, "No comment."

An informed source described the meeting as "very unpleasant". Arison's complaint filed with State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss against the Bank of Israel was one of the issues raised at the meeting. They also discussed Arison's hard feelings toward the Bank of Israel over the forced resignation of Bank Hapoalim chairman Dan Dankner.

Arison has long held that the Bank of Israel's conduct has been immoral, improper, and verged on the illegal. She also feels that the Bank of Israel wronged her.

It is not known who initiated today's meeting.
