Nochi Dankner tops BDI most valued managers list

Last year's most highly regarded executive, Yitzhak Tshuva, slipped to eighteenth place.

The BDICode 2009 ranking of Israel's most valued managers includes a few surprises. Discount supermarket executive Rami Levi joined the list of the top 50 managers, while Africa-Israel Investments Ltd. (TASE:AFIL; Pink Sheets:AFIVY.PK) controlling shareholder Lev Leviev, who ranked fourth in 2008, did not make the list this year.

IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH) controlling shareholder Nochi Dankner was ranked in first place, replacing Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) controlling shareholder Yitzhak Tshuva, who was knocked down to 18th place.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) chairman Eli Hurvitz was second, rising from third in the rankings last year. Teva CEO Shlomo Yanai rose from twelfth to third place, Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) CEO Galia Maor rose to fourth place from fifth place, and Strauss Group Ltd. (TASE:STEL) CEO Ofra Strauss rose to fifth place from seventh place.
