Acer to bring Packard Bell back to Israel

Packard Bell's laptops, notebooks and music players will reach Israel in a few weeks.

After Compaq's comeback to the Israeli market, global PC manufacturer Acer wants to bring back to Israel the Packard Bell computer brand. This was announced today by Acer's regional manager Federico Carozzi at the launch of a new line in Israel of laptops and notebooks.

Packard Bell is one of the brands in Acer's portfolio and the company distributes their laptops, notebooks and music players. The company presented the relevant models, but they will reach here in a few weeks.

In addition Acer today presented its timeline technology which enables laptops to work for eight hours without being recharged. Carozzi said, "When a customer buys a laptop the most important part is the battery. People would not buy a cellular phone that wouldn't last an entire day, and in the future, they will not agree to buy a laptop that they cannot work with for a full day."

According to Acer's sales manager in Israel Yasha Maknouz, the company will sell its laptops, which have an internal cellular modem, through cellular operators. This is part of the world trend by which notebooks are sold through cellular operators, which subsidize the price of the computers as part of their mobile Internet packages.

Acer Israel works with two importers: Newpan Ltd. and Electra Consumer Products Ltd., which distribute the company's products and provide after-sales service. Maknouz said that Acer was the third largest in Israel in its sector in terms of market share after HP and Lenovo.
