Defense equipment manufacturer ITL Optronics Ltd. (TASE: ITL) has won an international tender for night vision equipment from an Asian country that the company did not disclose. The equipment will be used by the country's military and border patrol units. The order is worth NIS 45 million and deliveries will be made during 2009 and 2010.
The thermal night vision systems are light-weight and hand-carried with a viewing range of several kilometers, even in severe weather conditions.
The tender was won by an ITL subsidiary, and the company has not yet decided on the breakdown of the work between it and the subsidiary.
The subsidiary is currently participating in a tender for a follow-on order by the same customer for the supply of 750 night-vision systems of the same type as in the present order.
ITL Optronics' share rose 8.5% by midday today to NIS 5.61.
