Amimon raises $10m in fourth round

The Herzliya-based WHDI chipset designer's has raised $50 million.

Wireless HD semiconductor solutions start-up Amimon Inc. has raised $10 million in its fourth financing round. Stata Venture Partners led the round, and was joined by present investors Cedar Fund, Evergreen Venture Partners, Walden Israel, Argonaut Private Equity, and Motorola Ventures.

According to IVC Online, Herzliya-based Amimon has raised $50 million since it was founded by chairman CEO Yoav Nissan-Cohen in 2004. The company's chipsets comply with the Wireless Home Digital Interface (WHDI) standard, capable of uncompressed speeds of 3Gbps.

Amimon chipsets are embedded in wireless HDTVs and video accessories by under OEM contracts with leading manufacturers. The company says that its chipsets can cover the whole home. Its customers include consumer electronics manufacturers, Sony Corporation (NYSE: SNE; TSE:6758), Sharp Corporation (TSE:67530), Mitsubishi Electronic Corporation (TSE: 6503), and medical devices maker Stryker Corporation (NYSE: SYK), which uses the chipsets in surgical video products.

The list of investors in the latest round does not include the strategic investor which participated in Amimon's previous financing round, whose identity Amimon has not disclosed. Sources inform ''Globes'' that this investor is NTT-Docomo Inc. (NYSE: DCM; LSE: NDCM; TSE: 9437)

Nissan-Cohen said, "We will use this round of funding to enhance production and expand our worldwide operations to meet growing global demand for our technology in the consumer electronics market as well as the medical and professional video markets."
