AIG Israel Insurance Company Ltd. is considering rebranding the company, including a possible name change. Following the rebranding and renaming of American International Group Inc, (NYSE: AIG) unit AIU Holdings LLC to Chartis, AIG Israel CEO Hava Friedman-Shapira said today, "As part of an international group, we're thoroughly reviewing the rebranding from all professional and marketing perspectives, and will then decide."
Friedman-Shapira noted, however, "AIG Israel is an independent, profitable company that is overseen by the Capital Markets, Insurance and Savings Supervision Department. The company has demonstrated the strength of its brand over the years."
AIG has announced that it has completed the restructuring that it began in March to set up an independent legal entity that will incorporate the company's property and casualty insurance business, including its renaming as Chartis. AIG added that the restructuring was aim at separating its insurance business, which has not been affected by the financial crisis, and its other activities. It noted that AIG Israel is jointly owned by AIU - now Chartis - and Aurec Group.
