50 firms are expected to apply in an innovation competition
Today is the deadline for submitting candidates for GSM Association's Israel Tournament of the Global Mobile Awards. 50 companies are expected to submit their candidacies. The ten finalists attend the 13th annual Journey Conference of "Globes" and Ernst & Young on September 15.
GSMA chief commercial officer Bill Gajda will attend and serve on the panel of judges. They will select the Israeli companies that will participate in the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2010 for the finals. The panel of judges will include executives from Telecom Italia SpA, Swisscom AG, Telefonica SA, orange, Pitango Venture Capital, and Carmel Ventures
Gajda told "Globes", "Israel has for years been considered a very interesting place, which engages in technologies related to the cellular field. We are surprises by the quality of companies coming from Israel. Relative to its size, Israel has many companies in this field. That why there's a good chance that Israeli companies that participate in the tournament in Barcelona, will be able to stand out there."
