Metropoline Public Transport Ltd. has won a NIS 600 million tender to operate 200 Egged Israel Transport Cooperative Society Ltd. and Dan Public Transportation Co. Ltd. bus lines in the Sharon region. Metropoline beat Veolia Transportation Israel Ltd. and Kavim Public Transportation Ltd., a joint venture of Mayer Cars and Trucks Ltd., Horn & Leibowitz Ltd., and Nazareth Transport & Tourism Ltd. The joint Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport tenders committee opened the tender envelops on Friday. Metropoline won the tender by asking for a lower subsidy than either Veolia Transport or Kavim. The tender is the largest to date under the public transportation reform. The 200 lines amount to 2.2% of Egged's routes and 4.3% of Dan's routes.
