British Airways today announced a special one-week deal on round-flight fares to London and follow-on flights to New York and Los Angeles, as the carrier fights the competition for seats. Reservations made this week for flights between September 1, 2009, and March 31, 2010, are being offered beginning at $417 to London, $703 to New York, and $811 to Los Angeles. The follow-on flights to New York and Los Angeles involve an extra $75 fee for the transit in London.
The current regular British Airways' round-flight fares from Tel Aviv begin at $487 to London and $813 to New York.
The discounted fares are considerably lower than the regular fares on scheduled flights, especially over the Jewish holiday period, when Israeli carriers normally raise their fares.
British Airways' campaign runs through August 16. The flights must be confirmed and paid within 24 hours of placing the reservation. The minimum time spent at the destination is three days, and the maximum period is one year. Changing the ticket incurs a $150 fine.
