Wanova raises $13 million

The US-Israel start-up is developing Distributed Desktop Virtualization architecture for computers.

US-Israeli Distributed Desktop Virtualization (DDV) start-up Wanova Technologies Inc. has raised $13 million to complete its first financing round from Greylock Partners, Carmel Ventures, and Opus Capital.

DDV is a new architecture that transforms how companies manage, support and protect desktops and laptops, particularly remote and mobile endpoints. The company's solution centralizes the entire desktop contents in the data center for management and protection purposes while distributing the execution of desktop workloads to the endpoints for superior user experience.

The solution is currently in field testing with customers. Wanova will also be introduced in the New Innovators Pavilion at the VMworld 2009 Conference at the end of the month in San Francisco.

Wanova CEO Ilan Kessler and CTO Issy Ben-Shaul founded the company in 2008. Kessler and Ben-Shaul are serial entrepreneurs who co-founded Actona, which they sold to Cisco Systems Inc. in 2004 for $100 million. Wanova is headquartered in San Jose, and has an R&D center in Netanya. The company has 30 employees.
