Israel Railways drops Ramet for J'lm station

The Binyanei Ha'Uma railway station is part of the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem high-speed rail link.

Israel Railways has cancelled a contract with Ramet Ltd. for work on the underground railway station at Binyanei Ha'Uoma in Jerusalem because of the contractor's renewed financial problems. Ramet stopped working on the project two weeks ago.

Israel Railways in turn foreclosed a NIS 6 million guarantee that Ramet deposited. In late 2008, Ramet won the tender for the excavation work and construction of the skeleton of the railway station. Ramet beat Linom Ltd., Ram Aderet Civil Engineering Ltd., and Terre Armee Ltd. in the tender.

The Binyanei Ha'Uma railway station is part of the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem high-speed rail link. Israel Railways will now have to publish a new tender for the work.

The Binyanei Ha'Ooma railway station is located across the street from the Central Bus Station on Jaffa Street at the western entrance to Jerusalem, opposite the Binyanei Ha'Ooma International Convention Center. It will built at a depth of 80 meters beneath Shazar Square, and have 300-meter long platforms. The total space will be 26,000 square meters.
