US, Canadian airport execs to meet Israeli security cos

Export Institute: Potential share of Israeli companies in the US security market is $300 million.

A delegation of six US and Canadian airport executives will arrive in Israel tomorrow as guests of the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to examine Israeli airport security. The visit is expected to lead to cooperation agreements between the airports and Israeli companies.

An Export Institute official said that the executives were from airports in Canada, Ohio, and Alabama, as well as the under secretary of homeland security for science and technology, and the vice president of the Airports Council International - North America.

The Export Institute is organizing a round table for the airport executives to meet executives of Israeli companies, including BriefCam Ltd., C-True Imaging Ltd., Genesis EW Ltd., IDO Security Inc. (Bulletin Board: IDOI), MATE Intelligent Video Ltd., Nemesysco Ltd., and WeCU Technologies Ltd.

The airport executives will also visit Ben Gurion Airport, the Israel Airports Authority, the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI) (TASE: ARSP.B1), Verint Systems Inc. (Pink Sheets: VRNT), Maman Cargo Terminals and Handling (TASE: MMAN), and HBA Agencies Ltd.

Export Institute director general Avi Hefetz told "Globes", The US government's security budget for 2010 is more than $55 billion, including $7.7 billion for transport security." He estimates the potential share of Israeli companies in this market at $300 million.
