Competition between the airlines, which has been nicknamed the "Battle of London", heated up today with the launch of a new sales campaign by British Airways: it is offering a round-trip ticket to London during Christmas for $268, including taxes and fees.
British Airways sold all 700 tickets allotted within hours of the launch. The fare is the lowest on the market.
The fare was apply to hundreds of tickets sold from today through Wednesday, November 11, for departures between December 23 and December 30 and the return flights between December 28 and January 3.
For the sake of comparison, low-cost airline easyJet, which inaugurated its Tel Aviv-London Luton route last week, is offering a basic fare of $400 during these dates, plus $50 for luggage and/or meals.
British Airways operates two daily flights between Ben Gurion Airport and Heathrow. The flights have three classes of service.
