Trucks to be banned from Tel Aviv-Jerusalem highway

From December 1 no trucks will be allowed on the stretch between Sha'ar Hagai and Shoresh between 6.30 and 9.30.

Relief may be on the way for drivers heading towards Jerusalem. From December 1 trucks weighing more than 12 tons will be banned from using the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem highway, (Road 1), between Sha'ar Hagai and Shoresh in the mornings from 6.30 to 9.30.

The pilot project, which has been announced by Minister of Transport Israel Katz, will operate for several months and will be carried out in cooperation with the Israel Road Transport Board.

A similar ban operated several years ago but was stopped following opposition from the Road Transport Board.

Trucks will be redirected during these hours to Road 443 to Jerusalem via Modi'in or to a large truck park near the Latrun Interchange.

In addition trucks will be banned during these morning hours on Road 431 between Modi'in and the Anba Interchange on Road 1, on Road 3 between the Latrun Interchange and Modi'in and on Road 375 to Tzur Hadassah.
