Information security start-up GreenSQL Ltd. has raised $1.5 million in its first financing round from Magma Venture Partners.
According to IVC Online, Adler Chomsky ad agency unit G Factor Ltd. made a seed-stage investment in GreenSQL.
GreenSQL CEO Amir Sadeh, CTO David Maman, and VP R&D Yuli Stremovsky founded the company in 2008. Sadeh was a founder of Onigma, which was acquired by McAfee Inc. (NYSE: MFE) three years ago. GreenSQL has seven employees.
GreenSQL is targeting a longstanding field. However, with time, basic security problems at websites have evaporated, and basic know-how is now no longer enough to hack into a site. This does not mean that problems have been completely solved. There are still a lot of addresses on the browser that can provide access to computer and communications systems of the host company, and with suitable code, it is possible to hack personal information.
GreenSQL is trying to solve the problem by a kind of protective layer based on database open code of MySQL (now a unit of Sun Microsystems Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW), and which soon may become a part of Oracle Corporation (Nasdaq: ORCL).
