Matthew Bronfman: Extending Shlomi Gabbai's term is a vote of confidence in the IKEA Israel's management and managers.
IKEA Israel CEO Shlomi Gabbai will serve for three more years, Matthew Bronfman announced today. He owns the Israeli franchise of IKEA through Bronfman Fisher Investments Ltd.
Bronfman said, "Extending Gabbai's term is a vote of confidence in the IKEA Israel's management and managers who have grown up within the chain. Gabbai will lead the next stages in our development in Israel, which is centered on the dedication of new store in Rishon LeZion in two months."
Gabbai joined IKEA Israel in January 2000 and was part of the team that opened the first store in Netanya, where he served as manager of the furniture department. Two weeks after the store opened, IKEA's Swedish owners recommended that Gabbai be appointed general manager of the store. He was appointed CEO of IKEA Israel in 2004.
