Big Brother pulls up Channel 2 website

Facebook continues to narrow the gap with Walla!

Reality show "Big Brother" has boosted the weekly exposure rate of Channel 2 franchisee Keshet Broadcasting Ltd. website Mako by 47% in the second half of 2009, including 17.1% in December, to sixth place, according to the TIM semiannual ratings of Israeli websites for December.

Google is still the top-ranking website, with a weekly exposure rate of 91.9%, unchanged in the past six months. Portal Walla Communications Ltd. (TASE: WALA) is in second place, with a weekly exposure rate of 63.1%, down 4.5% in the past six months. Facebook has bypassed Hebrew daily "Yediot Ahronot" news portal ynet to reach third place, after boosting its weekly exposure rate by 33.4% over the past six months. With a weekly exposure rate of 58.9% in December, Facebook is closing the gap with second-placed Walla!

YouTube is in fifth place, with a weekly exposure rate of 57.1% in December, up 15.7% in the past six months.

Ynet maps portal ymap was included in the TIM ratings for the first time in December, reaching 22nd place, with a weekly exposure rate of 11.8%.

Among financial websites, "Globes" weakened by 16.4% in the second half of 2009 to a weekly exposure rate of 13% in December, compared with 15.3% for TheMarker. However, "TheMarker's" weekly exposure rate includes its dating site TheMarker Café, which attracts 30,000-40,000 visitors, which means that, in terms of financial news, "Globes" is more popular by a wide margin. The weekly exposure rate of "Globes" at the workplace is 12.8%.
