The export of goods rose by 7.7% during the fourth quarter of 2009, an annualized rate of 34.5%, the Central Bureau of Statistics today reported in its economic indicators for October-December 2009. Credit card purchases rose by an annualized 8.7% in the fourth quarter, after rising by 8.9% in the third quarter.
Tourist overnights rose by an annualized 7.5% in the fourth quarter, an annualized rate of 33.6%, after rising by 12.9% in the third quarter, an annualized rate of 62.6%. The number of hotel overnights by Israelis fell by an annualized 1.3% in the fourth quarter, after falling by an annualized 1% in the third quarter.
Retail trade proceeds were unchanged in the fourth quarter, although proceeds at retails chains (a third of total proceeds) rose by an annualized 6.3% in the fourth quarter, after rising by 2.6% in the third quarter. Food sales at retail chains rose by an annualized 8% in the fourth quarter after rising by 0.4% in the third quarter.
