Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: GILT; TASE: GILT) has received new orders for its SkyEdge II satellite communications system from Costa Rica's national telecommunications operator, Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), for the deployment of Gilat's VSAT platforms to provide broadband services to 1,000 new sites. Gilat did not disclose the size of the new orders, but market sources estimate the deal at $4 million.
The network will provide broadband satellite communications for 500 corporate and financial customers.
Gilat's share opened at $5.35 on Nasdaq today, giving a market cap of $215 million. The share rose 0.2% on the TASE today to NIS 19.96.
