AudioCodes shares up on Microsoft, Skype deals

Shares of AudioCodes Ltd. (Nasdaq: AUDC; TASE: AUDC) rose 1% at the opening on Nasdaq today, after rising 5.9% in the two preceding sessions, following three announcements on Monday. Two of the announcements were about collaborations with Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT), and one was about a collaboration with Skype.

AudioCodes, a developer of VoIP systems, is run by chairman, president and CEO Shabtai Adlersberg. The company's customers include telecommunications providers and enterprises.

AudioCodes and Skype announced the interoperability of AudioCodes' gateway with Skype's system for telephone calls over the Internet, in a business and marketing collaboration.

"Skype has hundreds of millions of users worldwide, and is in effect the world's largest communications provider," said AudioCodes VP marketing Nimrod Borovsky. "They will provide the service and we'll provide the products, and we'll work together to service large and mid-sized companies."

AudioCodes announced that Microsoft products will be included in AudioCodes' gateways in order to ensure that conversations will still be possible even in the event of a breakdown or disconnection between an enterprise center and remote branches. AudioCodes also announced IP telephony support for the Microsoft environment.

AudioCodes posted $125.9 million revenue in 2009, 28% less than in 2008, but expects to achieve 9.6-13.6% growth in 2010.

AudioCodes' share price rose 1% at the opening on Nasdaq today to $3.98, giving a market cap of $180 million. The share price rose 2.2% on the TASE today to NIS 14.64.
