A consortium led by information technology integrator Ness Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: NSTC; TASE: NSTC) has won a contract to provide an electronic health services system to Slovakia.
Ness and partner Lynx, Ltd. won a tender for the first phase of an electronic healthcare services system to be provided to Slovakia's ministry of health, The first phase is worth about €32.4 million, or about $44 million. The term of the initial phase is 24 months.
Ness's part in the project is worth about $24 million. Ness will be responsible for the development of the system software and will serve as system integrator. Security solutions and information systems provider Lynx, with its partners, will be responsible for security and infrastructure, worth about $20 million.
The consortium consists of companies already experienced in implementing healthcare information systems in many countries.
The goals of the first phase are to establish a National Health Portal, to ensure the central provision of public health-related information, to build a system of electronic appointment scheduling, to establish an electronic prescription and medication processes, and to create electronic health book for each citizen to provide citizens and doctors with informative health data on patients.
Ness Slovakia managing director Martin Kohut said, "eHealth computerization is a broad and complex task which requires a range of skills and expertise." Lynx managing director Zoltan Kollar said, "The first phase of this project will create the basic pillars of healthcare computerization in Slovakia."
Ness shares closed on Friday at $6.72, giving a market cap of $257.26 million.
