Visionix Luneau buys Briot-Weco

Briot-Weco makes equipment for producing spectacles lenses.

Israeli-French company Visionix Luneau (Prime Standard: VSX) is expanding through an acquisition. Visionix Luneau, based in Chartres, has signed an agreement to buy European company Briot-Weco. Financial details were not disclosed, but according to estimates the price is at least in the millions of euros. Completion of the deal is subject to several conditions

Jerusalem-based Visionix develops, produces, and sells diagnostic equipment for the ophthalmic market. Briot-Weco produces equipment for producing spectacles lenses. Its products are aimed at the same market as those of Visionix Luneau. Visionix sees the combined companies as providing a complete solution of products and services for its customers. The acquired company has sales in the tens of millions of euros annually, of a similar order to Visionix's sales.

Visionix was founded in 1993 by Dr. Marc Abitbol, who manages the group. It has about 100 employees, 30 of them in Israel.
