Another figure is caught up in the Holyland affair.
Arrests continue in the Holyland case. Former Jerusalem deputy mayor Yehushua Pollack (United Torah Judaism) will be brought to the Rishon LeZion Magistrates Court today for extension of his remand. He is suspected of accepting hundreds of thousands of shekels in bribes from the developers of the Holyland project, beginning in 2004, in exchange for using his position as deputy mayor and chairman of the Jerusalem Local Planning and Building Commission, to facilitate the project.
Pollack was elected to the Jerusalem city council in 2003 and served as deputy mayor to former mayor Uri Lupolianski.
In a separate development, Ometz - Citizens for Proper Administration, Judicial and Social Justice today asked Police Commissioner Dudi Cohen to open an investigation into the paintings of Aliza Olmert, the wife of former prime minister Ehud Olmert. She reportedly sold her paintings for $2,500 to $25,000. Leading businessmen, including Alrov chairman Alfred Akirov, Dov Lautman, and Adv. Ram Caspi reportedly own her paintings.
