The new bill only applies to colleges and universities in the periphery.
The government today approved a proposed bill to give one year's free tuition to discharged soldiers. The benefit only relates to colleges and universities in the Negev, Galilee and Judea and Samaria and is an incentive for young people to study in the periphery.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "It's the least we can do for those who protect us day and night, especially these days when we all need to show solidarity with the IDF. The need to assist discharged soldiers and promote the periphery is a national consensus."
