The Knesset House Committee today voted to strip MK Hanin Zoabi (National Democratic Assembly) of privileges from her parliamentary immunity. The decision came a week after the stormy Knesset plenum session on the Gaza flotilla, in which blows were almost exchanged. Zoabi was on one of the flotilla's ships.
In the 7:1 vote, the House Committee voted to strip Zoabi of three privileges granted to MKs under the Knesset Members Immunity, Rights and Duties Law (5711-1951. The Knesset plenum will now debate the private member's bill of MK Michael Ben Ari (National Union). The bill will probably also reach the High Court of Justice.
The House Committee will call for an investigation of decision-makers and the establishment of an internal inquiry committee headed by the State Comptroller.
