Israeli, Indian high-tech assns sign cooperation agreement

Indian Ambassador Navtej Sarna: The growth of India's IT industries and the innovation of Israel's high tech together create a fertile and productive collaboration.

The High Tech Industry Association today signed a cooperation agreement with Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association of India (TEMA), The Indus Entrepeneurs (TiE), and the India Semiconductor Association (ISA). The heads of the three organizations are attending the 2010 Annual Conference, which opened in Jerusalem today.

The signing ceremony, during today's panel session on "India: The Next Frontier for Israeli Technology", was in the presence of Indian Ambassador to Israel Navtej Sarna. The cooperation agreement aims to create a working structure for collaboration between companies, encourage bilateral high-tech business ties, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, and promote joint projects.

The organizations also plan to hold joint conferences, and establish professional relations to leverage current opportunities in the Indian and Israeli markets.

BDO-I2I CEO David Keynan, a member of TiE, initiated the agreements. HTIA chairman Aaron Mankovski and managing director Oded Hermoni signed the agreements on behalf of HTIA. Mankovski said, "The agreement signed today is a basis for significant collaboration between two leading industries, which complement each other."

Mankovski added that India's high-tech industry was a global center of services and technology R&D, which was growing rapidly, and that Israel's high-tech industry was characterized by innovation and entrepreneurship. He said that the agreements created new opportunities for HTIA members in India, and direct access to networking.

Sarna said, "I wish to congratulate the Israeli and Indian high-tech industries for this important step taken to foster collaboration. This collaboration is an example of complementary industries that together create added value. The growth of India's IT and telecom industries and the innovation that characterizes Israel's high tech together create a fertile and productive collaboration for both countries. This is definitely a win-win situation."
