The OECD will hold its annual tourism conference in Jerusalem this year, in October. This will be the first time that the conference is held outside of Paris. It will also be the first OECD conference to be held in Israel since Israel joined the OECD.

50 tourism ministers and representatives from member states, as well as from other countries, will be invited to the 86th OECD Tourism Committee conference. The conference will also be attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Governor of the Bank of Israel Prof. Stanley Fischer, President Shimon Peres.

IN addition to visiting major tourist attractions in Israel, the three day conference will deal with “green" growth. The conference will discuss the tourism aspects of an OECD program and the ways in which tourism can contribute both in developing the green tourism product, the ecological effects on tourism, identifying green business opportunities and more

Minister of Tourism Stas Misezhnikov said, “The positive image gained will have an effect on the tourist’s choice to visit Israel and it will attract foreign investors to the country, including, among others, investors in tourism."
