TowerJazz, Vishay unit expand collaboration

TowerJazz estimates the products will boost annual revenue by tens of millions of dollars.

Specialty foundry TowerJazz (Nasdaq: TSEM; TASE: TSEM) is expanding its collaboration with Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (NYSE: VSH) unit Siliconix to planar metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFET) and Super Junction MOSFETs.

TowerJazz estimates that the expanded collaboration will boost annual revenue by tens of millions of dollars.

Siliconix is a global leader in low-voltage power MOSFETs. TowerJazz said that the technical capabilities and the production indices achieved with its Trench technologies prompted Siliconix to expand its business with the company. The deal will result in Vishay Siliconix continuing to be one of TowerJazz’s top five customers.

The MOSFETs are used applications in a wide range of electronic systems, including LCD TVs, PCs, servers, switch mode power supplies (SMPS), and telecom systems.

TowerJazz EVP business groups and business development Dr. Itzhak Edrei said that the expanded foundry agreements meant that Vishay Siliconix would propel the company's overall year-over-year growth.

TowerJazz's share price rose 1.4% on Nasdaq yesterday to $1.44, giving a market cap of $286 million, and the share rose 1% by midday on the TASE today to NIS 5.67
