Former PM Olmert faces more Holyland questions

Ehud Olmert appears today again at the offices of the Israel Police National Fraud Squad.

Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert arrived today for the third time at the offices of the Israel Police National Fraud Squad in Lod. The police are questioning Olmert under caution over his alleged involvement in the Holyland affair.

Olmert will likely be questioned for several hours about his relationship with the Holyland developers, with the state's witness (whose name is still under a gag order), and other parties.

Today's questioning will probably focus on information the police obtained from Olmert's brother, Yossi Olmert, who resides in the US. The police suspect that Olmert gave at least part of the bribe money that he allegedly received from the Holyland developers to his heavily indebted brother.

Olmert allegedly took money from Holyland developers Hillel Cherney and Avigdor Kelner via intermediaries Shula Zaken (Olmert's former chief of staff) and Adv. Uri Messer (an associate) in exchange for promoting the real estate development. Olmert is suspected of fraud and breach of trust, taking a bribe, and money laundering.
