The aggregate revenue of Israel's hotels fell to NIS 7.7 billion in 2009 from NIS 7.8 billion in 2008, according to BDI Coface.
Israel's number one hotel chain is Dan Hotels Corp. Ltd. (TASE: DANH), according to BDI Coface's ranking of hotels in its list of top 500 companies. The chain has 12 hotels nationwide, with NIS 828 million revenue in 2009, 1% less than in 2008. The company is ranked 164th out of Israel's top 500 companies.
Fattal Hotels Management Ltd. is in second place, with NIS 1.71 billion revenue in 2009. The chain has 4,800 rooms nationwide, after acquiring the Sheraton Moriah hotel chain from Shaya Boymelgreen in 2009 and rebranding it under the Leonardo label.
The BDI Code rankings are based on a large number of quantitative and qualitative variables, including turnover, profits, level of risk, payment ethic, financial soundness and performance, management, innovation, and rank as a good place to work.
