New Ma'ariv investor Rakib: I seek this challenge

Zaki Rakib: It's impossible to profit from Internet content; it's a thieves' paradise.

"I'm at a point in life where I'm seeking this challenge, which is why I invested in Ma'ariv," said new Ma'ariv Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MARV) chairman Zaki Rakib at the "Globes" Marketing and Communications Conference today. Ma'ariv Holdings owns Hebrew daily "Ma'ariv".

"Ma'ariv is a very promising business, a good business. You look to which horizon you can to take this business, and I see a business that is promising, and can reach far horizons," Rakib added. "I came to Ma'ariv from another place, and I look at it from new angles. Its current infrastructures are high in terms of innovation."

Commenting on Internet content, Rakib said, "There is not yet a business model in the Internet where a content owner can make a profit. It's impossible to profit from Internet content; it's a thieves' paradise. Google comes along, draws the content and doesn’t pay anything."
