Shaul Meridor, the son of Minister of Intelligence and Atomic Energy Dan Meridor, was to become acting budget director.
Sources inform ''Globes'' that Civil Service Commissioner Shmuel Hollander has rejected the appointment of Shaul Meridor, the son of Minister of Intelligence and Atomic Energy Dan Meridor, as deputy budget director at the Ministry of Finance.
On Monday, Budget Director Udi Nissan announced that he had picked Shaul Meridor to replace Amit Lang as his deputy. The Ministry of Finance announcement said that Meridor would serve as acting deputy until the appointment was made permanent.
A top Civil Service Commission official told "Globes", "This kind of position must be filled by a public tender, which gives equal opportunity to all candidates. For this reason, we do not accept that the Ministry of Finance announces in advance who it thinks is the worthy winner in a tender that has not even been held. As far as we're concerned, the appointment is invalid, and there won't be a final appointment so long as there is no tender. It's unhealthy and unacceptable."
