Kibbutz Yotvata has come out with an Israeli version of the popular internet application, FarmVille, which has tens of millions of Facebook users. Yotvata's game, called "First Virtual Kibbutz", covers all aspects of production of a dairy farm. Each of the application's three stages has games, many of them with a humoristic bent.
For example, to produce flavorful milk beverages, Yotvata takes the cows out for a day of fun, playing hide and seek, and takes them to a cow spa. In order to impart to the player the meaning of life of a member of Kibbutz Yotvata, the application uses features that are identified with the kibbutz, such as resting at home, eating at the common dining hall, bathing in the kibbutz pool, and activities at its clubhouse.
All components of the application were created and illustrated for the First Virtual Kibbutz, with a user-friendly interface and graphics design, created by Inkod Hypera Ltd. More than 20,000 "kibbutz members" joined the application in its first two weeks.
Like FarmVille, First Virtual Kibbutz will be distributed on Facebook. The popularity of the new application now remains to be seen.
