Sources inform ''Globes'' that Israel Theaters Ltd. which operates the Rav Chen and Yes Planet cinema chains will build a multiplex and entertainment center in west Rishon LeZion, which will directly competed against the new Cinema City multiplex in the city.
Israel Theaters plans to build its multiplex near the Superland amusement park. The multiplex will be operated by the Yes Planet brand. It will have 25 VIP standard theaters with 4,000 seats. The project will also have restaurants, cafes, pubs, and halls for conventions and events.
The sources added that the Kanyon Hazahav Mall in Rishon LeZion will vacate its cinemas, which are operated by the Globus Group, by Saturday, even before the summer break from school is over. Cinema City's multiplex, opened two months ago, left Globus Group unable to fill its cinemas in the nearby mall.
Globus Group's closing of its cinema's at Kanyon Hazahav marks the final chapter in the disappearance of cinema's from Israel's malls. The Ramat Aviv Mall was the first to remove its cinemas. Globus Group vacated its cinemas from Jerusalem's Malha Mall and Tel Aviv's Azrieli Mall a few months ago.
