"Forbes" ranks Netanyahu world's 24th most powerful person

US President Barack Obama is ranked second.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is ranked 24th in the "Forbes" list of the "World's Most Powerful People" in 2010. The magazine's said, "as the leader of an undeclared nuclear power, Netanyahu remains the biggest menace to Iran's nuclear ambitions."

"Forbes" listed 68 people, including national leaders, businesspeople, and other figures. To make the list, a person must have influence on lots of people, significant financial resources relative to their peers, must be powerful in multiple spheres, and they must actively wield their power.

The leader of the world's largest economy, US President Barack Obama, was pushed down to second place in this year's list, in favor of China's President Hu Jintao, the leader of 1.3 billion people, a fifth of the world's population, commander of the world's largest army, and under whose leadership China has become the world's second largest economy.

Other people who made this year's list include al Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden, Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz al Saud, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Pope Benedict XVI, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben S. Bernanke (in 8th place), Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and Wikileaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange, who recently disclosed cases of abuse by US troops in Iraq.
