Ceragon Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: CRNT; TASE:CRNT) will supply its 4G/LTE-ready wireless backhaul networks to Nigerian mobile carrier Direct On PC Ltd. to expand its WiMAX-based 4G network. Ceragon did not disclose the size of the contract.
Direct On PC will launch the network in Lagos by the end of this year, and expand it to the capital Abuja and to Port Harcourt in early 2011. Ceragon's solutions will enable Direct On PC to offer home users and businesses entertainment, telephony, high-end video conferencing, live security streaming services, virtual private networks (VPN) and other applications.
Direct On PC chairman Mahesh Sadhwani said, "Ceragon is helping us bring all the benefits of the digital age to Nigeria."
Ceragon's share price rose 0.6% on Nasdaq yesterday to $11.01, giving a market cap of $377 million, and rose 3.8% by early afternoon on the TASE to NIS 40.50.
