There were 185,300 unemployed persons, in seasonally adjusted trend figure, in Israel in September, 0.3% fewer than in August, the Israel National Employment Service reports. The number of unemployed has fallen by a monthly average of 0.9% since July 2009.
The number of jobseekers fell 2.5% to 200,400 in September from 213,100 in August. 15,300 persons joined the ranks of the unemployed in September, 70.9% of whom (10,800 persons) lost their jobs.
The breakdown of jobseekers by education level shows that the number of jobseekers without university degrees fell by 5.3% in September. The number of new jobseekers with university degrees fell by 3.2%.
The Employment Service registered 20,300 available jobs in September (original figures). 44% of the positions were for unskilled persons, and 56% were for skilled workers.
