Former Ministry of Finance official Eli Cohen (40) will join Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) in a newly created position as head of marketing, responsible for the bank's marketing strategy, brand, community relations, and regulations. His last position was El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. (TASE: ELAL) VP trade and international relations. Before that he was director of wages at the Ministry of Finance, and director general of the Ministry of Tourism.
Cohen will be an observer at Bank Hapoalim management meetings.
Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) has a similar structure.
Cohen was one of four candidates for the job. One of the other candidates was Erez Paz, a former executive at Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) and Israel Credit Cards-Cal Ltd. (ICC-Cal).
Bank Hapoalim Zion Kenan made the decision after meeting Cohen on Monday for a final interview. A bank spokeswoman said in response, "When a decision is made about manning the position, we'll announce it."
