Keshernet is in talks to join other participants in tender, Cellnet and Hezi Bezalel's 018 Xfone.
Sources inform ''Globes'' that Keshernet Ltd., backed by Canada's Ghermezian family, has withdrawn its bid in the tender for new mobile carriers. Keshernet, organized by Yehiel Ben Shoshan, is in talks to join other participants in tender, Cellnet Communications Ltd. and Hezi Bezalel's 018 Xfone Communications Ltd.
The reason for Keshernet's move is not completely clear, but sources at the company say that it is related to the Ghermezian family's wish not to disclose the activities of its privately-owned family business, the TripleFive Group of Companies. The Ghermazian's group was one of the more serious contenders in the tender, and had worked intensively on it recent months.
Keshernet's withdrawal reduces the number of bidders in the tender to four from five. The remaining bidders are all serious companies, who intend to participate until the end of the tender process and compete fiercely for the two bandwidths of frequencies begin offered.
